Bellhorn, Bats trample Bulls
June 4, 2007

Michael Gosling pitched seven strong innings and Mark Bellhorn hit a grand slam as Louisville pummeled host Durham, 10-2, on Monday afternoon.

Bellhorn drove in five runs in the ballgame, a season-high. The 32-year-old Major League veteran's first-inning sacrifice fly put the Bats (30-27) on the board, while his grand slam capped the game's scoring. Aaron Herr hit a run-scoring single in the first inning and an RBI double in the third, while Chris Dickerson blasted a two-run homer in the fourth.

Gosling (5-2) yielded two runs on five hits over seven innings while striking out a season-high 10 batters. The 26-year-old southpaw, who has won each of his past five starts after going winless over his first six, struck out the final four batters he faced. Solo homers by Justin Ruggiano and Jorge Velandia accounted for the only runs Gosling allowed. Kirk Saarloos followed with two scoreless frames.

Jeff Niemann (4-4) took the loss after surrendering six runs -- five earned -- on six hits and four walks over 4 1/3 innings. Scott Dohman struck out six in two scoreless frames before Jeff Ridgway surrendered Bellhorn's slam in the seventh. -- Benjamin Hill/MLB.com

"A proud member of Red Sox Nation.  Thank you Mark for your 2004 playoff heroics.
"

A nice response to Kelly's pictures and videos -

Oh my gosh! I didn't realize how much I've missed him! All those video clips all at once was almost too much to handle. Thank you so much for putting a smile on my face and just being able to enjoy seeing and listening to him. I could also look and listen to him all day! The Hazel Mae one is just great- I never saw that one. Thanks again.                Dee

One more beautiful thought about Mark, from Jennifer:

Yes, it was unsettling to see Mark on the other side... but he's still one cool guy, and a ballplayer worthy of the utmost respect, and we wish him only the very best!

I think we can all agree with that!  Very well said, Jennifer - THANKS!!

A sweet comment -

I wish I got to see him smile when he heard the cheering.  I cheered for him loud and clear.  I miss him so much as well and hope he gets to play.

Keep Smiling Mark, we love you!!!

~Crystal -Oct 4, 2005

thank you to Linda for these very true and wonderful words...

... he is also a player who works hard, plays the game hard and gives it his all. The guy has never said a bad word about teammates, FO, Media, etc. To see him booed, slammed, and generally treated with disrespect is a damn shame.

And Mark, always remember - we believe in you!

Respect the Bell
